BOOKING A WEDDING CAKE?

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE?
We recommend that you book your cake at least 3 months in advance as Summer weddings can get booked up very quickly although short notice cakes can be accommodated also.

THE CAKE:

(Please note that all Cake prices shown on this website have been worked out with all tiers in Sponge. Rich Fruit Cake products for 6", 8" and 10" tiers have been added under the section "FRUIT CAKE - EXTRA" in order to be able to substitute the sponge for Fruit Cake for an extra cost which can then be added to your shopping basket / cart).

• Madeira with Jam and Buttercream
• Chocolate with Chocolate fudge filling
• Lemon with Lemon curd and Buttercream filling
• Carrot Cake with Buttercream filling
• Fruit Cake

Sponge Cake:
Sugarpaste (Fondant - Rolled Icing)
Belgium Chocolate - cigarellos, maltesers etc

DECORATING THE CAKE?

SUGAR FLOWERS:
All our flowers are hand-made and co-ordinated to a bride's bouquet and colour scheme

FRESH FLOWERS:
Fresh flowers can be used to decorate your cake. We can either arrange for fresh flowers to be made on your behalf or you can arrange for you own flowers to be created.

MODELS:
We can create models to match your wedding attire for that of your family.  We can create models to match any type of event....

      

CAKE GENERAL INFORMATION?

KEEPING THE TOP TIER?
It is possible to keep the fruit cake from the top tier only if it has been kept on its own board such as the following examples:

       Tiered Cake                     American Stacked Cake

However if it is an American Stacked-style cake (with the top tier with no board underneath - as shown below) then we don't recommend it as the icing is disturbed when you remove the top tier.  

HOW LONG TO KEEP THE CAKE?
If the cake has been cut then we recommend the following as, when cut, Sponge and Chocolate can go stale very quickly:

• Chocolate - same-day
• Sponge - same-day
• Fruit - cover in a layer of greaseproof followed by a layer of foil
  (will keep for a couple of weeks)

If the cake has not been cut and its on its own board then we recommend the following:

• Chocolate - up to 5 days
• Sponge - between 5 - 7 days
• Fruit - up to 3 months

Chocolate and Sponge can be frozen for up to 6 weeks.

KEEPING SUGAR FLOWERS?
We generally advise you to have your sugar flowers mounted into a glass case so that they remain a memento of your special day. Sugar flowers are generally no longer edible when constructed into a bouquet as wires are inserted into leaves and petals as stems.

If you want to be able to eat your flowers then we will simply arrange unwired flowers onto your cake as the petal paste that we use is edible.

The best way to work out how many tiers you need to serve to your day guests is to work it out from the charts below.  Most cakes shown on our website are a standard 3 tier - sizes 6", 8" & 10". The portion size guides below are approximate and can only be used as a guide.
